ABOUT ME

I have spent over two decades working within the field of special education. Throughout that time I have had the opportunity to serve in a variety of roles including teacher, administrator, attorney, and researcher. Throughout these experiences, I developed a passion for strengthening special education programs and helping other educators improve their instruction. My number one priority is that organizations, schools, and individual learners leave training knowing that they have new knowledge or skill sets that can be put into practice immediately.
A large part of my focus and dedication has been on ensuring that ALL students are provided with quality literacy instruction built on a solid research-based foundation. Many educators have now become familiar with the term "Science of Reading", but struggle to understand how they can apply this research to special education students, especially those with more complex disabilities. With high expectations and knowledgeable teachers, these students can make significant gains in literacy which will prepare them to move beyond school and into their communities. I have completed LETRS certification and am a certified Phono-Graphix Reading Therapist, which allows me to bring a wealth of expertise when training others in foundational reading instruction and creating quality reading curricula.
I have spent the majority of my career working in virtual and remote environments and have a long history of working with companies and organizations providing online curriculum options. This requires a specialized set of skills and knowledge as technology and curriculum are integrated. As a certified ScrumMaster, I have developed expertise in bringing an agile development model to these projects in order to provide clients with quality training and products in a quick and efficient manner.
I hold Bachelor's degrees in Early Childhood Education (PK-3) and Special Education (PK-12), a Master's Degree in Learning and Technology, and a Juris Doctor of Law with a concentration in special education law. I am currently working on my dissertation for a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction which will be completed in 2023.
